A Book by Onur Guler

A Student of the University of Life

A personal story about migration, resilience, entrepreneurship and starting again.

This book is not presented as a perfect success story. It is an honest reflection on the decisions, people and difficult moments that shaped my life.

Expected publication: October or November 2026. English and Turkish editions are planned.

A life can be a classroom.

When I began writing this book, I thought I was organizing the past. I expected to explain the move from Izmir to Canada, the years in education, school ownership, entrepreneurship, loss and rebuilding. The visible milestones were easy to name. The quieter parts were harder. I had to look again at pressure, pride, fear, difficult decisions and the help I did not fully notice at the time.

Some chapters did not offer a clean lesson. A decision could make sense in one moment and still create consequences I understood only later. Writing forced me to slow down and separate the story I preferred from the experience I had actually lived. It reminded me that memory gives us scenes, but reflection asks what those scenes mean.

This book is not written from the finish line. It is written from inside an unfinished life. I am not a graduate of the University of Life. I am still a student, and I am trying to take better notes. That is the point of the book: not to present a perfect answer, but to understand the person behind the decisions more honestly.
